VIRTUAL PILOTS RAISE MONEY FOR DIABETES RESEARCH
Marathon Flight Simulator Trek Spreads Hope, Awareness to
Diabetics

Over 20 million children and adults in the United States have
diabetes which makes it difficult or impossible for them to
earn a pilot license, even if it's their life-long dream.  A group of
local pilots have volunteered to focus on diabetes and raise
money for diabetes research.  Twenty volunteer pilots will fly a
flight simulator during the weekend of August 17th and18th to
raise money for the American Diabetes Association (ADA).

The volunteers will take turns at the controls of an elaborate
flight simulator with a projected outside view.  The flight will
start in a computerized representation of New York and
proceed across the simulated United States to virtual Los
Angeles.  During this cross-country flight, the pilots and
spectators will see all the towns, roads, rivers and mountains
that exist in reality.  The event will take place at the Roeland
Park Community Center.

Information regarding diabetes and flying will be available at
the event and also at www.diabetesNY2LA.org.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Diabetes
Association.  The ADA is the nation's leading nonprofit health
organization providing diabetes research, information and
advocacy. Founded in 1940, the ADA conducts programs in all
50 states and the District of Columbia, reaching hundreds of
communities.  The mission of the Association is to prevent
and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people
affected by diabetes.

Nearly 7% of the US population has diabetes.  Nearly one-third
of those people are unaware that they have the disease.

Roger Dodger Aviation, LLC is hosting the event.  The
company's founder, Matt Thomas, built four flight simulators
which are used in an aviation social club.  The company also
offers scenic flights over the Country Club Plaza.
